Clinical Psychology Consultants Ltd (CPC) provides independent assessment and rehabilitation for people who have acquired brain injuries, other forms of cognitive impairment and complex mental health problems. Our expertise is in the formulation and delivery of specialist rehabilitation packages to enable individuals to identify their own goals and to achieve the most independent and least restrictive way of living that is possible.
We provide individual rehabilitation, group and organisational intervention in addition to staff support and training. We also provide expert clinical and legal services, ranging from neuropsychological reports through to Risk, Capacity and Guardian assessment.
Dr Lorraine Childs BSc(Hons), PGCert, DClinPsych, CPsychol, RAPPS, AFBPS, is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, who has been practicing since 2000. She has worked internationally with people who have brain injury and cognitive impairments and is a leader in the developing field of Forensic Neuro-rehabilitation, working as a Consultant at St Andrew’s Healthcare, Northampton. She is also the Director of Clinical Psychology Consultants Ltd (CPC).
Dr Childs has published broadly and presented at conferences across Europe, Asia and New Zealand. Her main interest is working with people who have long term rehabilitation needs and she has proven skills in identifying solutions and working alongside patient and staff teams to achieve excellence in care and independence. She has special interests in forensic needs, physical health and co-production.
HCPC registered and BPS Chartered, Dr Childs has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Surrey and a Post Graduate Certificate in Forensic Psychology.
Clinical Psychologists work with people who have emotional, behavioural or neurological disorders. They have usually earned a Degree in Psychology and after a few years' practice have gone on to complete a three-year doctorate.
They must be registered by the HCPC in order to practice. Most will belong to a professional body like the BPS, which ensures standards.
